Prints, Art, & Digitals

All gift prints and canvases (up to 30 by 40) are printed in the studio on a large format professional printer with archival pigments and paper. Unlike many same day photo centers which use dye-based inks which quickly fade, I use pigments and paper which resists humidity and are rated to last nearly 100 years when framed under UV glass or 200 years in dark storage. Canvases are hand made and built to suit your wall space. Additional art and photo gifts are available for purchase.

Most clients are looking for heirloom quality prints and wall art to display in their home, but some want to have digital files to share with friends and family near and far. All sessions include social-sized files with a tastefully applied watermark for posting to social media or emailing.

As an artist, it is important to me to control the quality of your art. I have found inconsistencies in color, tone and even sharpness of images in all of the labs I have used – whether they were professional or consumer labs. This is why I decided to invest in a professional printer to be able to handcraft your artwork myself. I also truly believe in the power of increasing children’s self esteem through portraits. Did you know that “children whose parents display family photographs in the home grow up with greater confidence and sense of belonging?”

That said, I do offer high-resolution images delivered via online gallery. Please understand that these files should not be treated as archival. Digital images suffer from factors that influence their lifespan including obsolete file types. More and more computers are lacking CD and DVD drives. USB technology is also changing and soon all of those USB A sticks you have may not work with your computer. Beyond that, the standard filetype we have used for many years, JPEG, may be replaced in the coming years with a new type called BPG. Which means that many of the digital images we store now may end up like our VHS tapes. While I can confidently tell you that your prints and wall art will still be beautiful in 20+ years time, I cannot guarantee the longevity of digitals. I truly care about offering your heirloom quality art that can be passed down to younger generations and feel I would be doing you a great disservice if I did not mention the downside to digital files.

I do understand that some folks prefer to have them regardless of this information but want to encourage you to purchase digitals in addition to prints and wall art. As such I offer a discount for digitals purchased with other packages.
