Session Info

Location

The studio is located 20 miles east of Helena, Montana on our 10 acre property, which affords clients with a private experience. The studio is temperature controlled for your comfort, has a restroom and changing table, dressing area, vanity area for makeup application and/or hair dressing, kid’s play area and a comfy sofa and television for entertaining those not being photographed.

I am also available for on location portraits in the Helena area (travel fee if located outside 30 mile radius of Helena or 15 miles outside of Townsend). For an additional fee, I can provide professionally lit formal or lifestyle portraits in your home.

What to Wear

I always recommend you wear something you feel comfortable in. I want your portraits to be a reflection of you! That said, it is best to go with clothes you can move freely in. Solid colors in earth tones, or simple patterns in medium or dark tones are most flattering.

We Montanans are used to layering, and layering is your friend! A nice top under a blazer or light sweater will help add texture to your image. Feel free to accessorize!

Families should coordinate, but not match. In other words, choose a color or two and have your family members wear varying shades of that color.

Most importantly, think about where your art will be displayed. What is the style of your home? Color of the paint in the room(s) where your portraits will hang? Color of furniture? You will want to chose outfits that compliment your home and personal taste. Leaning toward clothes with timeless appeal is best.

What Not to Wear

Please avoid bright white tops. Our eye naturally goes to the brightest area of the photo, and bright white will take focus away from your face(s). As will large logos and lettering, or very busy and/or exceptionally bright patterns.

Try not to wear anything too tight or too short, and use caution with horizontal stripes.

Still have questions? No problem! I am available to speak, trade texts, or do an-in home consultation for a nominal fee.

Session Day

The day of your session should be fun and as carefree as possible! If you can, schedule your session with enough time to sleep in and make or have breakfast as a family. Being able to experience and look back at your portraits with fond memories will ensure the best possible outcome. I will do my best to make your session fun and stress-free. If something arises and you cannot make your scheduled time or day, please give me a call. I am flexible and fully understand that things happen!
